I created Thorn Magazine back in 2012 as part of my university degree. I’ve always loved flowers – how they look, how they make you feel and how they make others feel – so it felt like the perfect subject matter to dedicate 5 months of my life to. I began working on Thorn in Jan ’12 and sent it to the printers in May ’12. It was the longest 5 months of my life, but it was worth it in the end when I finally held the first physical copy. I then went on to win the Media & Design award at Graduate Fashion Week, which was judged by the incredible Melanie Rickey and Jefferson Hack.
Thorn was originally created to explore the transience and symbolism of flowers in art, fashion and culture. I now have a busy job in fashion PR, so as much as I’d love to create a second issue of the magazine, it’s just not feasible. So here we are.
You can read the first issue here.
